Hooked on Hockey

16th November 2007 - Hooked on Hockey Junior Skills Challenge Award scheme launched
The PHDG is delighted to launch its news "Junior Skills Challenge Award scheme" which the group has been working on over the past year. The packs have been developed to support the work of the group in primary schools and link to junior clubs. The packs consists of 5 skills cards and a DVD to show all the skills, progressions and teaching/coaching points to help develop the skills.
Linked to the 5 skills on the cards is an award scheme which players can work towards by completing each skill. For each skill completed points are awarded and depending on the total achieved will depend on whether a player gains a Bronze, Silver or Gold award. As an added bonus once a player achieves an award they will also gain a 10% discount voucher which can be used in Tony Pryce sports.
Packs cost £20 to purchase and include a voucher for 50 certificates once your pupils have completed the scheme. Further information on the scheme is currently being developed on the web site.

For more information on the award scheme please contact Ben Blundy - 07841 385641 or ben.blundy@devonport.co.uk or benblundy@phdg.org.uk.

May 2007 The Plymouth Hockey Development Group is pleased to launch its exciting new secondary schools development programme under its new development brand name "Hooked on Hockey" in partnership with:

The scheme will be linked into National Governing Body (England Hockey) single system and clubs first scheme to ensure it meets the highest standards possible.

In order for secondary schools to access the new scheme which will run in Plymouth from September 2007 your school will need to sign up to the scheme. By signing up to the scheme your school will enter into a one year partnership with the PHDG. This partnership will be reviewed on an annual basis in order for the programme to develop to ensure it meets the needs of all parties.

The PHDG will give priority to those schools who sign up to the new scheme with school who decide not to join will receive very limited support from the group unless they decide to buy in the services of the group should capacity permit.

It is important to note the scheme is a 2 way partnership between the schools and PHDG and not a way of off loading the delivery and development of the sport to the PHDG. While the PHDG may run a club in your school the management and promotion of the club and teams will still remain in the hands of the school.
