Information
Lipson Lions Hockey Club was formed in 2004 and started in the Plymouth junior league with U11 and U13 teams for girls and boys under the direction of Simon Fenwick(PHDG).
Since then the club has parted company from PHDG and is running as a club in it’s own right. The Club is run by a group of 9 coaches and is developing year upon year.
The club currently has about 50-60 children who are members and runs U10s, U12s and U14 boys teams and at present.

Funding
Over the past year the club has been working very hard to gain some funding to help develop the opportunities for more players to join and develop in their Hockey at Lipson Lions from the local area.
Over the summer the club gained a grant from the Lottery Fund for £7000 pounds and also gained three other grants and awards including one which the U14 boys put together a proposal for and sent off.
These grants and awards now mean that more children will have access to better facilities, equipment and coaching and the chance to play a sport that they may not have previously been able to play.

Training
All training takes place on Wednesday evening from 6.00 – 7.00pm on the new astrotuf pitch at Lipson Community College.
The club trains at Lipson Community College Astro Turf on Wednesday evenings from 6-7pm.
New members get 2 free sessions and then from there on each child pays £2 per session.

Coaching
All the children at Lipson play in the three league age group brackets:

U10: Coached by Beth Ash(developing coach) and Rob Logan and Jo Wakeham (level 1 Coaches)
U12: Coached by Sam Loughran and Damien Hughes (level 1 coaches)
U14: Coached by Charlie Helyer (Lead Coach level one coach and umpire), James Harding (level 1 umpire and coach) & Pete Honey.

Matches
Matches are played at Lipson, Brickfields and Ivybridge and are organised by the Plymouth Junior League. Matches again cost each player £2 to pay for pitch hire and lights.
