2nd May 2006 - Youth Forum update
A meeting was held on 26th April and the following points were discussed. Thanks to Sinead Kelly for these details.
We spoke about school reps. Ivybridge = Sinead & Steve. DHS =Jim & Dave. John Kitto = Leigh. Plymstock = Reece. Eggbuckland = Charlotte Allatt.
Lipson= Mark Smith & Bethany Ash. Tavistock, Heles and Devonport: undecided.
Creating posters to promote this league and let members within each school know about it. On the poster you will need to include the following information:
- Will start June/July
- Will only be £2.50 per match, this will go towards pitch hire and a PARTY
for the end of the league. Matches will be played on a weekly basis.
- All matches will be played within the Plymouth area
- For both boy and girls of all abilities, ranging from beginners through
to County/West
- For years 8, 9, 10 and 11
- Spread the information to friends.
- It is a FRIENDLY hockey league!!!!!!!!
- Use bright colours and pictures of hockey to make it more appealing and
noticeable.
- 9. Include logos of the Local Network Fund, Devon Community Foundation and DML devonport. You should find them on this website.
Also to promote this league you need to tell your friends to spread the word, select someone or a few people in each year group to spread the word
in their year. And if you're a school rep talk about it in assemblies for the neccessary
year groups. Arrange a meeting date for each year seperately, this would probably be easier,
for example YEAR 8= sports hall on TUESDAY 2nd MAY at 1:30pm YEAR 9= sports hall on WEDNESDAY 3rd MAY at 1:30pm etc... At this meeting you need to make a note of people interested, so their
names, year group, and email will need to be taken down.
Tell them to listen out for a note in the daily bullitin or a notice on the
sports board for the next meeting you will have with them.
Give them a rough indication of when it will be though, and don't leave it
too long because they're bound to forget!
After you have had a meeting with each neccessary year group you need to
work out rough teams and if you don't have enough people or too many to make
up a team get in touch with me or one of the other school reps because it's
likely they'll be in the same position too.
REMEMBER: Keep the teams fair, a few from each year group and no more than
two county players per team and it's 11 a side.
This needs to be done and organised as soon as you possibly can so we can
get the teams sorted and the kit ordered and the league underway!!!!!!!!!
GOOD LUCK and if you are having and troubles let me no and i'll do my best
to help.
The provisional date for the next meeting is WEDNESDAY 24th MAY, but Jamie
will be intouch about that. At that meeting we will need you there plus the
captain of each of the teams, we will check teams and sort out kit.
MAKE SURE YOU GET THE HOCKEY LEAGUE INFORMATION AROUND YOUR SCHOOL and keep
emailing me on your progress.
