19th November 2007 - Young Volunteer Awards 2007
England Hockey introduced its Young Volunteer Awards in the summer of this year. We know that there are an ever-increasing number of fantastic and deserving young people in our sport and we are now looking for nominations to consider for our 2007 Champion Young Volunteers role of honour. If you think you know of a volunteer (aged between 13 and 25 years) that you would like to nominate, please follow this link to England Hockey and scroll down to the nomination form.
September 2007 - Sir John Hunt Hockey Festival
The PHDG's first Primary Hockey Festivals was held in September, with 13 teams competing from the Sir John Hunt Secondary school group. Read the full report by Ben Blundy here.

1st-22nd May 2007 - U13 Centre of Excellence development centre
The PHDG is delighted to confirm the details for this years Centre of Excellent & development. The programme will run at Marjon during May for boys and girls in years 7/8. Schools may select players who they feel match the basic criteria: (County Standard players are not eligible to attend)
- Good Athletic games ability
- Keen interest in hockey
- Willingness to listen and work hard.
The group wishes to coach the most promising players from West Devon & East Cornwall area to be coached over a four week period. Over the years the centre has proved very successful with many players going on to represent their county and more recently the West of England and England.
The Centre of Excellence will run on Tuesday 1st, 8th, 15th & 22nd May with all sessions taking place at the College of St Mark & St John and
only costs £15.
15th May 2006 - Plymouth Devon Youth Games Team trial
Where: Lipson Community College astro pitch
When: Monday 12th, Monday 19th June, Monday 26th June, Monday 3rd July, Monday 10th July: 6:00-7.30pm
For who: Boys & girls in school years 7 & 8 (Age 11-13)
The first 2 sessions (12th & 19th June), players will be coached and assessed to attend the additional 3 session in June & July.
Cost £3 per session.
Schools & Clubs are invited to nominate and promote this opportunity for young hockey players to develop their skills.
In order to attend please complete a registration form and return by
Friday 9th June to: PHDG Development Centre, 1 Salcombe Road, Lipson PL4 7NE.
20th February 2006 - Hockey Leadership Conference
The PHDG is delighted to announce that a Hockey Leadership Conference is going to be run in Plymouth on Wednesday March 15th at the College of St Mark & St John.
The target group is boys and girls in years 9-11. The aim after the conference is to set up a Youth hockey Forum to help develop the sport. The newly qualified leaders
will be give the challenge of setting up a new U16/U15 boys and girls fun league running in late spring and early summer.

25th-28th August 2006 - Boys U15 & U17 11-a-side Summer Hockey Festival
The College of St. Mark & St. John (Marjon) is a higher education College in Plymouth and is working with Plymouth Marjon Hockey Club to put on a youth hockey festival in the summer.
The festival will be hosted by Marjon and take place over the August bank holiday weekend, Friday 25 – Monday 28 August 2006. The competition will be open to boys under 15 and under 17 teams.
The weekend will cost £195 per team to enter and £95 per head for players, adults £110 per head(for those teams staying on campus). This cost includes bed and breakfast and two evening meals, the tournament itself, trophies and medals for the winners/runners up and entertainment on the Saturday night along with access to utilise additional sporting facilities at the college.
The closing date for entries will be 28 April.

Wednesday 27th April 2005 - SSCo City Finals 2005.
(all the winners from the festivals throughout the year).
Both the boys and girls finals proved to be very exciting games with Tamerton Vale winning the girls
final and Woodfield winning the boys final. Both school are part of the Sir John Hunt Academic Council.
Tamerton Vale left it late to take the title with Joanne Griffiths scoring in the last five seconds.
Woodfield also left it late to secure the trophy with a goal also scored in the final few seconds.

After school Junior Hockey Clubs
After school Junior Hockey Clubs to be set up at Bullpoint and Manadon. The Plymouth Hockey Development Group in Partnership with Positive Futures and the City Council Sports Development Unit invite young hockey players in schools years 4 to 8 of all abilities to the following free sessions.
You will need to wear shin pads and bring a drink. Equipment provided if
necessary including sticks.
Come along and have some fun, bring a friend and learn new skills. Competitions, skills, games and prizes to be won.
The aim from the sessions is to set up a permanent club at each venue
starting in the Autumn establishing teams at U9s, U11s and U13s for boys
and girls.
